UAM Food Delivery

The Urban Aboriginal Ministry is a ministry of the Anglican Parish of St. Mary Magdalene in the Greater Vancouver Area to the First Nations people and their loved ones. The Ministry provide medicine wheel circles with smudging for all occasions (on request) and cultural funerals and weddings. It hosts Annual Feasts on Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. They also provide cultural gatherings where they teach arts & crafts such as drum making to restore the traditional ancestral teachings. The UAM responds to calls for practical needs such as food, furniture, clothing and transportation.

As a result of COVID-19 many members of the aboriginal community have faced food shortages. The UAM has responded to the crisis by delivering donated food to greatful members in Vancouver. UAM has delivered food out to the community on a regular schedule since early summer. On Nov 3rd myself and another volunteer did our run and picked up 50 boxes donated by Donalds Market from Christchurch Cathedral and delievered the food to the community.
